Following the developers request for skins for his previous Bounce demo, I made a skin for his iSnake game. I wanted to do a skin that would show off the “game over” screen to it’s fullest as the current one covers too much of the screen to fully appreciate. Full credit to the developer for this awesome game and to the creator of the butterfly icon. To install, upload images via sftp into your Applications/iSnake.app folder.

What’s that you say? The iPhone doesn’t have a native currency converter but only web apps available to handle it? Well, in actuality you do have a built in currency converter in the form of the stock application for the iPhone along with the built in calculator. In order to get the current currency exchange rate, you need to input the desired currencies into the appropriate formats specified by Yahoo as that’s where the info is being delivered from. So for instance, following this formula “USDPHP=X” where USD being the American Dollar and the PHP being the Philippine Peso, would give me the current exchange rate of the American Dollar into the Philippine Peso.

For people wanting to replace the glossy SMS bubbles that came standard with your iPhone with some less shiny ones which make the SMS messages easier to read in my opinion, i’ve adapted the original SMS bubbles with these from the developer of iChat Matte.Give full credit to the developer of the matte SMS bubbles. To install, you need to SSH into your iPhone and overwrite Balloon_1.png and Balloon_2.png in your Applications/MobileSMS.app folder.

Here’s a new iPhone game made by the developer of the Bounce Demo previously featured on this site. This game makes nice use of the iPhone’s accelerometer, collision and bounce detection. The game is worth playing alone to just see the “game over” screen and see the snake orbs interact individually with one another as you shift around your iPhone.To install using your Installer application on the iPhone, just add the source : http://prog.cedsoft.free.frFrom The Developer: (Alpha 0.4.0)So here come the major changes :

• Scores diplays on the top left hand corner. (it’s quite small, I don’t know how to use more fonts to make it looks better in the whole game skin).
• You can pause the game by touching the bottom black bar on the screen.
• You can set the silent mode by setting the volume at minimum (the vibration will turn off as well)
• Vista thing : I let you discover how Snake likes it…
• Brand new icon : Thanks to Steven Ligatsa

The minor changes :

• The app is now ready for custom/skin integration *like mine* from Installer.app
• The “Hi Score” now link to the iSnake score board. (which is not working yet…)
• There are less vibrations (the eating-apple one was too much…)

Next step :

• Levels & custom levels
• Silent mode by switching the button
• Working online score.
