Really Really Custom Ringtones For iPhone
I’m sure most people praise Apple for officially acknowledging custom ringtones for the iPhone by way of their Garageband tip but there are times when I’m rather stumped coming up with ideas for a custom ringtone let alone remember what ringtone I gave a particular person. This tip solves that dilemma for me by using AT&T Labs Text T0 Speech Demo. It allows you to input any text you’d like, for example input “Your idiot Boss is calling” and it will convert that to speech, with your choice of regional accents and allow you to save it as a .wav file. I then convert the .wav file using Quicktime with pictured settings below and save it as an .mp4 file. Finally I use MakeiPhoneRingtone (Mac Only) to upload it into iTunes but I assume it’s possible to do this now with the Garageband tip published by Apple and possibly skip the aforementioned steps. The possibilities are endless using this Text To Speech tool and alleviates the need for me to remember what custom ringtone I gave someone and as an added bonus actually announces who it is that’s calling.
