Locations Webcam Viewer For iPhone

Locations, by Andreas Linde, is a native iPhone application available on Installer that allows you to view webcams from around the world. Google a webcam for a place your interested in viewing and input the image URL using the “Add” button of the application.

From The Developer:

“I enjoy using the weather app on the iPhone a lot, but I always felt something is missing. Ok, I can see the forecast with temperature values and an icon illustrating if it is raining, snowing or whatever. But this isn’t enough for me, I want to see how the weather is. Well, there was no app present helping me there, so I decided to start coding it myself. And here it is.”

Usage Instructions From The Developer:

“All you need is an image URL. Use the “Add” button to add new webcams, or the “Edit” button to rearrange or delete webcams. The URL will be validated before it is accepted. On startup Locations will load the webcam images from the local cache. If the cache is empty, it will download the default webcams, which is the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower.Attention: Downloading webcam images will result in online data traffic using EDGE if you are not connected via WLAN. If you don’t want Locations to cause online data traffic, make sure to disable EDGE in your iPhone.”

One more reason not to update until a 1.1.3 jailbreak is out.

Care to share how you added the Manila webcam? Are there other Philippine cities available? Thanks!

This is a WONDERFUL APP. A major highway in the St. Louis, Missouri USA just shut down for a year for construction so you never know which route is the best one to get to work. One wreck can gridlock your normal route. I used Locations to collect every webcam between my home and work — on every possible route. So while laying in bed in the morning, I can refresh them all at once and decide on the best route to take.

PROBLEM THOUGH – Locations does not work on the Official Dev JB 1.1.3 because of where the images and webcame plist are currently stored. mobile user does not have permissions to write that directory. So upon running Locations for the first time, it crashes back to the Springboard – unable to write new images to that directory.
