VoiceSignal, a leading supplier of speech recognition solutions, have ported several of VoiceSignal’s applications to the iPhone. These initial proof-of-concept applications include VSearch (mobile local search by voice) and VTunes (voice enabled music player). No info as of yet on the release of the native iPhone applications.

I’m not sure why these bigger software companies (unless they’ve been given an advance SDK, which seems doubtful,) are developing for a “hacked” platform. Is it just to get a jump on other developers, in order that these apps can get certified almost as soon as the SDK hits?

No one in their right mind is going to pay for software that could get (possibly permanently) locked by the next software update from apple.

I can see the utility for a voice-enabled media player, for use while driving, but why not just straight-up voice dial, (linked up with iphonehome for double-tap then dial.)

I agree with you. I’m quite sure Apple or some other developer will implement these at some point but obviously not for free.

Another company has also released a voice recognition app today. This one you may actually download from installer. http://www.makayama.com/iphonevoicedial.html

I tried it, it rocks.

I think this will be a great addition to the apps u guyz have already give us. Thnx for all the hard work guyz. when do u plan to release the app? no rush at all. just curious. could u also make one for voice dial so we dont have to pay the $25 for the makayama app? pretty please.
thnx again.
