Caterpillar Updated – Brings Back 5 Icon And Reflective Dock
Some nice Caterpillar updates have been implemented. People upgrading to 1.1.3 and up lost the ability to use the plist hack to use the reflective dock along with having a 5 icon dock. Rip Dev have brought those features back with version 1.1. One other notable feature that was added was the change to the calendar screen. You now have the ability to display events for the next 7 days.
1.1 ChangeLog (Mar 7, 2008)
- Ability to request a trial to try out the product for a few days for free.
- Improved the installer.
- Small fixes and tweaks on all the components.
- Recurring events are now supported;
- Ability to select default mode: events or calendar;
- Ability to turn off mode switching by clicking, so you can only see events or calendar;
- The events for up to the next 7 days are displayed now (but no more than 7 on the screen);
- The events view is wider now;
- Fixed a visual glitch with a light line on the bottom of the calendar;
- Fixed a bug with the volume slider not functioning in the iPod control mode.
- 5-icons Dock support for firmware 1.1.3 and newer;
- Ability to turn enable Reflective Dock;
- Ability to turn off Dock background;
- Ability to make status bar opaque;
- Dark faceplates for the icon titles (nice for light backgrounds).
- Ability to hide only the message text or both the sender and the text in the addition to the “standard” options.
- The phone is only waking up to make a notification to conserve the battery.
- Ability to dial a number from the Smart Dialer (including the plus sign, and */# symbols);
- Improved the search speed;
- Ability to choose the keypad language;
- Added an option to include the region code when searching for phone numbers;
- Added an option to delay the search until the designated number of characters is entered;
- Vibration is only done for 0.5 seconds per key press instead of the entire duration.

Hi Kameron. I read in a forum (I think it’s MMI) that in 1.1.4, you can’t install Caterpillar with Summerboard or it endlessly resprings your SpringBoard. I just updated to 1.1.4–have SMB already but am reluctant to install Caterpillar.
Are the 2 not compatible for 1.1.4?

To be honest with you, i’m not sure as i’m still on 1.1.3. I really have no compelling reason to use 1.1.4 as my iPhone is working the way I like. *knock on wood* Once Caterpillar implements themes, Summerboard will no longer be needed.

I jumped from 1.1.2 to 1.1.4 so I’m kinda regretting it now.
I’m running fw 1.1.4 together with summerboard. Yesterday I installed caterpillar 1.1 without any (besides some small) problems! (I just ordered my full license)
The only 2 things are 1.) that you have to set the language not to default (without that, smartdialer don’t show any numbers) and 2.) that reminder still remind me that I have an unreaded sms without having one. The best (at least for me) is the uCalendar!

I find it pretty gutsy that they’re continuing the hefty subscription plan in the light of the SDK news.
Why pay for a 6 month plan when you’re getting FW 2.0 in 3.

$45 is really a bit much, gentlemen. I miss my five-icon dock, but not THAT much.
Give us a $30 pricecut, and then maybe we’re having a conversation… else someone else will just figure out how to do this stuff for free.

There is a way. This source iFortner has figured it out for FREE!
No Catapillar. He has a application called Bring it Back! It is bad ass. I don’t know his source code but I have his YouTube Channel. Man this guy is the Real Deal. He has Game Packs For every Emulator 960 NES Roms install from his repo. I think it is iFortner Fan Club or C.L.U.B. 411 he owns both but not sure which one has the games. Yeah Man! Jose is tellin the truth the guy iFortner is like the future of the iPod touch. He was the first person in the world to get a free phone number and be able to make calls and receive calls. And Dude! the sound is freakin crsytal clear. He has a video on his VoIP-Phone app that he created that take the best quality of both SIP-VoIP and Sipphone and made his VoIP-Phone. Dude, I’m telling you you need to check that iFortner out, No Joke !!!
He has an app called Bring it Back. Dude, it will let you get 6 icons instead of 5 icons. and he has a way to implepent this in the Theme Builder.
