the funniest part is how you all freak out when technology comes at you in the appearance of olden days style.

There most certainly were ABC’s on old rotary phones.

The Prefixes used to be words, so like in West Seattle, the Prefix is WE5- xxxx or 935-xxxx. You say, call me at West 5-xxxx.

However, 0 and q weren’t under zero. Zero stood for Operator. Remeber those?

It seems in this multi-media world we live in, it wouldn’t be too much to ask for a video demonstration. Am I right?

I would love to see how this works.

NOT TRUE. For those of us who remember rotary dialing, there were number. In fact, there was a time when you would use the place as the first two digits (Pennsylvania6-5000 was a WWII era song).

Let’s not forget that the USA is not the whole world :)
I remember rotary dialing too, I also know that some of the phones had letters on dialers, but they became obsolete long time ago, as you said, WWII era song :)

I can remember when we got the phone into our in Adelaide, South Australia house sometime in the early 60’s, it had letters over the numbers then. My parents used to say their phone number started with JL then 4 digits,

Still no one has answered o795ep’s legitimate question from two months ago of how to “Dial” the pound symbol “#” or the star/asterisk * which are occasionally needed when calling an automated phone system/answering machine.
