Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs has met with NTT DoCoMo’s president, Masao Nakamura, about a possible deal to bring the iPhone to Japan according to the Wall Street Journal. Add to that a survey made by JR Tokai Express Research Inc in which 331 respondents were asked if they’d buy an iPhone, 40% of them said yes.

If that’s true, Apple could very well be singing this.

It seems some people have written off purchasing an iPhone due to lack of 3g but an interesting post from Daring Fireball leaves me wondering if it’s woth waiting for 3G alone.

Below is a test from German Blog iPhone Infoblog opening various websites comparing Edge on the iPhone and 3G using a Nokia E61i and their conclusion is that pages rendered at almost the same speed. The one glaring difference to me is how nice the pages look on the iPhone but look like a$$ on the competing device.

Even more evidence from Youtube comparing Edge on the iPhone with a Palm Treo using 3G. Almost same rendering speeds for both, but rendered pages on competing device still looks = a$$.
