Easy Jailbreak For 1.1.1 iPhones and iPod Touch *Updated With Youtube Fix*

Point the iPhone or iPod Touch you would like to jailbreak at http://jailbreakme.com. Fully read the instructions and tap Install AppSnapp to proceed. Wait for Safari to close and take you to the Home screen. Don’t touch anything until the unit restarts and takes you to the “slide to unlock” screen. If succesful, you will see an Installer icon on your home screen and you’ll be free to start installing third party applications. Recommended installs before anything thru Installer would be BSD Subsystems and Open SSH. Credit goes to the hackers by the name of hdm, metasploit, rezn, dinopio, drudge, kroo, pumpkin, davidc, dunham, and NerveGas.

What’s new in AppSnapp
* Entire process is logged to /var/root/Media/AppSnapp.log and can be retreived with iphuc/ssh.
* Added a check to prevent AppSnapp from being ran on devices which are not running 1.1.1
* Improved reliability. I am no longer using raw sockets to send the payload files, they are being served back to the phone/ipod via HTTP. This greatly improves the chances you’ll actually get it jailbroken the first time :)
* Added progress indicator. Now once safari crashes, you’ll see a dialog letting you know what’s going on.
* Updated to the latest version of Installer.app. Now, I install Community Sources by default so you’ll see all packages right away.
* Made it really one-touch, even for users with unactivated phones.
* Fixed issue where the majority of users with unactivated phones wouldn’t get YouTube working automagically.

AppSnapp Features

1. Jailbreaks iPhone/iPod Touch on 1.1.1
2. Patches Springboard to load third party apps
3. Activates non-AT&T iPhones automatically, while leaving already activated phones alone
4. Fixes YouTube on non-AT&T iPhones automatically, while leaving already activated phones alone
5. Installs Installer.app v3.0b5 on the iPhone/iPod Touch
6. Fixes Apple’s TIFF bug, making your device MORE secure than it was without AppSnapp!
The best part? No hacking required!

AppSnapp FAQ

1. Could this brick my iPhone/iPood touch?
No, worst case you will have to restore in iTunes.
2. Why do I have a blue question mark?
This means you already ran AppSnapp once. Since we patch the TIFF bug, you’ll have to restore to run it again.
3. Can I do the SIM unlock my phone wih this?
AppSnapp does not unlock the phone. You will have to use anySIM to do so after you install AppSnapp.
4. My phone is still act the “Activate now” screen, why?
If your phone doesn’t show up as activated after you run AppSnapp, please reboot your phone.
5. I’m an AT&T customer, do I need this since it activates?
AppSnapp is smart, if knows if you are an AT&T customer and doesn’t try to activate if you already are activated.

Access Safari On Unactivated iPhone

1. enter *#307# press call, now use the back button on the top of your screen to remove *#307# , now enter 0 , press call, press answer, press hold, press decline. And you get to the contact list. And thereafter every time you push the homebutton you just slide the “emergency call” slide, then enter 0 , press call, press hold, press decline
2. Push contacts, end call and you get called again, this time hit decline and you access one of menus with favorites, you can edit contacts, do a test ride on keyboard, take photos etc.
3. Now edit a new contact and type in http://jailbreakme.com as web-address.
4. When you tap the address safari opens but only displays an error saying that it cannot access the website, it also looks like safari freezes up.
5. Now press the home button, and for a split second the iPhone shows a screen where you can select wi-fi networks. Now you have to be really quick and select a network before the phone freezes.
6. Next you get Back to the “emergency call page” and every on screen button has frozen so the only thing you can do is turn off the phone.
7. Turn the iPhone off then on again
8. Now you can go back to the contact list by Dialing 0, push call, then answer, then contacts, then hit that web address you typed in.

Edit:

Some people seem to be having Youtube problems with this jailbreak. If you’re having issues, download this file, extract it, and upload the three files using an sftp program into /private/var/root/Library/Lockdownd. Back up your originals as this will overwrite the three original files.

Virginize A 1.02 iPhone

The method described below will enable you to virginize an iPhone with 1.02 firmware thus allowing you to upgrade to 1.1.1 firmware. This virginizer is to be used only by iPhones that were unlocked using the Anysim 1.0 – 1.2 or iUnlock method. Do not use this if you’ve used the iPhonesimfree method. Use at your own risk.

  1. Open Installer and update to the latest version.
  2. Restart Installer and go to the “Sources” tab at the bottom and press “Edit” and then “Add”. Type in “http://markmon.mine.nu:90/iphone/repo.plist” and press “Ok”.
  3. Return to Installer and refresh sources. Go to the “Install” tab at the bottom and view “All Packages. Install BSD Subsytem, Term-VT100 and Virginize scripts.
  4. Now exit installer and open up the Term VT100 on your phone. Type these two commands into the terminal:
     cd /usr/bin
     virginize
  5. When the virginize script runs, you should not see any sort of (16) resource busy errors. If you do, stop the script, unload commcenter by running this:
    launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
    then restart the script.
  6. Once done you can now upgrade to firmware 1.1.1 and follow this method to jailbreak and unlock your 1.1.1 iPhone.
