Manually Manage Media With iTunes 7.6 – Custom Ringtones Unaffected
iTunes 7.6 has now added the option to manually manage your media directly on the iPhone.

You can now drag and drop media directly onto your iPhone’s drop down menu and delete items from there as well.

And custom ring-tones I made with Audacity and MakeIphoneRingtone stayed intact with iTunes 7.6.

TuneWiki Lyrics Application For iPhone
I’m sure at one point or another most iPhone owners have found themselves singing along with their favorite tunes, right lyrics be damned. TuneWiki will save you from further embarrassment by displaying the lyrics of the current song playing on your iPhone. The application works well over edge and found the majority of the songs I played. The only minor annoyances of the program is the lyrics aren’t saved locally on the iPhone and in order to advance the lyrics to the song that’s playing, constant tapping of the album picture is required to keep in sync with the lyrics. Also as a reminder, knowing the right lyrics to a song doesn’t automatically make you a better singer. Jus sayin’. Now available on Installer.
From the developer:
“To make it automatically scroll the lyrics, you have to sync them one time yourself. That means tapping the album art to advance the lyrics all the way through the song. At that point the timing information is sent back to our servers and stored. Next time someone requests lyrics for that song they will get it with your timing already there. If you get a synced set of lyrics that are all messed up you can hit the “resync” button and redo it. It’s all community maintained (which is why it’s called Tune”wiki”)BTW the lyrics are stored locally for any song you’ve gotten already. That way if you’re out of the service area you’ll still have them.”

Last.fm Client MobileScrobbler For iPhone
Not having ever used Last.fm on a regular basis as I don’t tend to listen to music while i’m working, I looked at MobileScrobbler with little interest. My interest grew when a couple of my friends couldn’t stop gushing about it, so I decided to download it off of Installer and give it a spin. After having used it for a couple of days now, consider me on the bandwagon. It’s like having your own personal radio station in your pocket. It connects to the Last.fm servers using wifi or edge. You have the option for MobileScrobbler to scrobble your music that your listening to and upload that info into your Last.fm profile or you can disable it altogether thru the menu. The best feature for me is being able to search for an artist and listening to some new stuff I hadn’t heard before along with info on the artist, accompanying lyrics, etc… Check it out on Installer if you love music.

Free 1.1.1 Ringtones Patch
This method patches the MeCCA.framework file enabling you to use your own custom ringtones and survives synching thru iTunes unlike other methods.
Step 1. Patch the MeCCA.framework
Download the patched MeCCA file here.
Place the extracted file into /System/Library/Frameworks/MeCCA.framework replacing the previous file.
Reboot your iPhone.
Step 2. Create your ringtones
Use iTunes to convert sound file to AAC (.m4a), then rename the converted file to:
ringtone_name
Notice: there must be a space before .m4r, so, a ringtone named ringtone.m4a should be renamed to ringtone .m4r.
Upload the renamed ringtone file to /Library/Ringtones, it appears in Settings->Sounds->Ringtones list immediately.
