Wacky iPhone Straps
With the recent announcement of Apple holding talks with Japanese carriers over the iPhone, one can surmise two things are imminent. First is that 3g is a certainty as the cell providers in Japan don’t use edge. Two is that loops for cell phone straps are a given. Japanese people are crazy about cell phone straps and providing one without loops for a strap would almost certainly be seppuku (suicide) for Apple. StrapYa has a selection of cell phone straps from Japan leaving me to think, WTH? Now which one to get Grandma for her iPhone? The emaciated baby, the steroid baby or the cut out baby with viewable organs? It’s gonna be a tough choice this Christmas.

iPhone Weather Backgrounds Of The Day - Nissan GT-R
Inside Line has done some testing on the new 2009 Nissan GT-R and looking by the numbers they’ve achieved, this is one fast machine. Unfortunately, uploading the weather backgrounds on my iPhone is about as close as i’ll get to owning this. Extract and upload the 3 files using your favorite sftp program into the Applications/Weather.app folder of your iPhone. The Default.png file is the picture that briefly shows while the weather application is starting. All the files are pre-named and will overwrite your existing backgrounds. Download link below.

iComic Revisited
Earlier this week when I posted up a blurb about iComic, a native iPhone application which essentially allows you to read files in zip format, most people were excited with the prospect of being able to read their favorite comics or manga at their convenience from their iPhone. Some though expressed disinterest mainly because they weren’t into comics or manga. Using a few tools from the web, you can turn any text file into reading material using iComic and your iPhone thus turning it into a pretty nifty eBook reader. Project Gutenburg alone has over 20,000 free books that you can download in text format from such famous authors as Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, William Skakespeare and many more. Once you’ve downloaded your text files, download iJpegBook which is available for Windows and OS X. iJpegBook which was originally created for the Sony PSP but works great for the iPhone using custom size settings, essentially turns your text files into numbered jpeg files. Once the text files have been converted and saved into a folder, archive the folder into zip format. Then upload the zip file into the var/root/media/Comic folder of your iPhone. Voila, eBook reading on the iPhone.

iPhone In Japan
Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs has met with NTT DoCoMo’s president, Masao Nakamura, about a possible deal to bring the iPhone to Japan according to the Wall Street Journal. Add to that a survey made by JR Tokai Express Research Inc in which 331 respondents were asked if they’d buy an iPhone, 40% of them said yes.
If that’s true, Apple could very well be singing this.

iPhone Weather Backgrounds Of The Day
Having snowed close to 8 inches where i’m at, i’ve been stuck at home trying to kick the winter doldrums and came upon this post at Macthemes with a nice Beach wallpaper theme including a wooden dock. That post in turn inspired me to do some more iPhone weather backgrounds in keeping with the beach theme. Don’t mind the gratuitous bikini pics. All i’m thinking about is the beach. Honest. Really. To install the weather backgrounds, upload the 3 files using your favorite sftp program into Applications/Weather.app. The Default.png file is the picture that briefly shows while the weather application is starting. All the files are pre-named and will overwrite your existing backgrounds. Download link below.
