Another option for SMS management is now available from the iSMS developers site. iSMS shares the main features such as SMS forwarding to multiple recipients along with deletion of singular SMS messages as it’s counterparts Wetool and SMSd. The one feature that this application has which the others lack are support for smileys . Current downloads from the developers site come in pxl format or you can download below as a regular application program. Unzip and upload into the Applications folder on your iPhone. As with any applications you manually upload into your iPhone, be sure to set the executable permissions to 755. * Now available on Installer. *

Pixel Style iPhone SMS Balloons

If you’ve grown tired of your stock SMS Balloons or just want a new look, try out these simple pixel style comic balloons. Only two colors for now, one with a Blue outline and the other Pink. Download Below. Extract and upload via sftp the ballons of your choice into the Applications/MobileSMS.app folder of your iPhone . Balloon_1.png = You and Balloon_2.png = Them. If these aren’t up your alley, try these.

Bypass iPhone 1000 SMS Limit

There’s a tweak available on Installer using: http://iphone.totalmatrix.net as a source and it allows you to bypass the current 1000 SMS message limit for the iPhone. The tweak can be found under Tweaks (1.1.1) and is called “No SMS Limit”. The archived messages while hidden from the stock iPhone text messaging application can all be accessed using SMSD which i previously posted about.

SMSD iPhone SMS Delete And Forwarding Application

This application much like Wetool addresses some of the shortcomings of the SMS messaging application on the iPhone. The major features which are included on SMSD which Apple has neglected to add are deletion of individual messages, forwarding of SMS messages to groups of people and a built in character counter. The application is at version 0.09 but apparently seems stable in regards to the advertised features.

A more thorough overview taken from the developers site:

Features (that Apple missed):

Delete individual messages
Different views for incoming and outgoing messages
Templates
Backup all message through mail.
Compose new messages. (Apple got this right.)
Reply to messages. (Well, Apple did not miss this one.)
Forward messages.
Support for concatenated SMS (long SMS).
Send/Forward messages to multiple contacts.
Character counter.
Send Contact Information through message.
To install manually:

Put the extracted zip dir (SMSD.app) in /Applications on iPhone. From v0.09 onwards, you will also have to copy com.amrut.iphone.SMSD.plist to /Library/LaunchDaemons. And last but not the least, dont forget to set executable permissions for SMSD and SMSDNotifier files.

Install it using installer.app. (Which Should Be Available Soon)

iPhone SMS Comic Bubbles Updated

*Updated with Hello Kitty, Badtz-Maru and Chococat SMS Bubbles in blue, green, grey, orange, pink, purple and yellow.*

Here are some mods of the matte SMS bubbles I posted about earlier incorporating some comic strip characters like Calvin & Hobbes and also Dilbert and Dogbert. Four different SMS Bubble colors are included in the zip file for each character. To install, unzip and upload via sftp into the Applications/MobileSMS.app folder of your iPhone.

Earlier in November when Joshua Bryant posted about iChat-Matte bubbles that he’d developed, I quickly got the idea to modify and posted the revised ones for the iPhone as the current ones, although nice eye candy with their shiny, glossy goodness, made reading SMS messages hard. Now Joshua has released an iPhone version of his original iChat-Matte bubbles.

weTool For The iPhone Updated To V0.3.7.1

Aaron Jang has released weTool, a native iPhone application that enables you to delete individual sms and call entries along with the ability to forward SMS messages to multiple recipients, a feature that Apple hasn’t implemented as of yet. It also gives you an option to save your sms messages to your notepad and the transition effects between switching screens is pretty cool. ~~The download is only available as a pxl file on hackint0sh~~ Now available on Installer. Point Safari at or add Source via Installer as http://app.weiphone.com/installer/ . ~~Two downloads are below with the first download having a circular rotation transition between screens and the second having a page flip transition effect~~. ~~Let Aaron Jang know which transition effect you like better on the poll so maybe you can influence him to incorporate it in his newer release~~. ~~According to Aaron, he’s got more than 15 different page transitions~~. ~~Hopefully those will be available on future releases~~. Matte iPhone SMS Bubbles

For people wanting to replace the glossy SMS bubbles that came standard with your iPhone with some less shiny ones which make the SMS messages easier to read in my opinion, i’ve adapted the original SMS bubbles with these from the developer of iChat Matte.Give full credit to the developer of the matte SMS bubbles. To install, you need to SSH into your iPhone and overwrite Balloon_1.png and Balloon_2.png in your Applications/MobileSMS.app folder.

iPhone SMS Delete

For people having problems with flash sms messages and need to delete the problem offender or just want to delete a particular SMS message without deleting the whole conversation, you can use this. Fire up Installer and download it thru there.

Description From The Site:

This is one of the missing feature in iPhone SMS application. I am sure Apple will add it sooner or later. But I wanted to learn objective C and things like that so I went ahead and did this.

It is really simple and unpolished as of now. When you start the app, you’ll see a list of SMS (latest on the the top). It will try to resolve the number from the address book and if a matching entry is not found then number is shown as it is. Just select the message that you want to delete and it will take you to the message screen where you can delete that message.
